Dear CSS Members,

We are excited to celebrate California and Summer at our Annual Picnic-this Saturday, June 15!

Registration begins at 11:00 am and the picnic ends at 4:00 pm. The location is Lion-Tiger Hill at the National Zoo.

HOW TO GET TO THE CALIFORNIA STATE SOCIETY SUMMER PICNIC
We have put together some important information to help you find your way to our new location, Lion-Tiger Hill at the National Zoo. Public transportation is strongly encouraged. You can also find information at
https://nationalzoo.si.edu/visit/parking-directions

PICNIC LOCATION
Lion-Tiger Hill is located near the Rock Creek entrance. A map of the National Zoo is provided in this link: https://nationalzoo.si.edu/sites/default/files/documents/zoo-map-print-out-dinos-green_compliant.pdf

METRO
From the Woodley Park Metro station on the RED LINE take the escalator to Connecticut Avenue. Look
for the CSS volunteers with signage who will direct you to the shuttle. A complimentary shuttle courtesy of Edison International will be provided to and from the picnic. The shuttle will run a continuous loop from the Woodley Park Metro to the Zoo Farm beginning at 10:45am with the last pickup from the Zoo Farm back to the Metro at 4:30pm.

RIDE SHARE
Look for National Zoo and Harvard Street Bridge. This is the closest drop zone to the Rock Creek entrance. IMPORTANT NOTE: Lyft has offered a discounted ride share for the day of the picnic.

BIKE, SCOOTERS, SKATEBOARDS
Riding bikes, scooters, skateboards and the like is prohibited on all pedestrian walkways at the Zoo. While in the Zoo, you must park or walk or carry your bike, scooter, skateboard, etc. The Rock Creek bike trail leading into the Zoo is open only during public hours. For a full map of the trail, see the National Park Service website.

Bike racks are located near the Visitor Center and across from Mane Grill, just uphill from Lion-Tiger Hill.

Capital Bikeshare has several stations for rental bikes near the Zoo. Please check their website for locations and availability of rentals.

DRIVE AND PARK
Parking is available at the Zoo on a first-come, first-served basis for a flat fee of $25 or free with some FONZ membership levels. Parking is extremely limited at the Zoo and lots fill early during the spring and summer months. Street parking can be difficult to find.

Reserved parking at or near the Zoo can be purchased ahead of time through ParkWhiz. www.parkwhiz.com Click to Reserve Your Parking
