Bellehaven Country Club
Alexandria, VA

Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) is a genetic disorder that occurs in approximately one out of every 15,000 births; it affects males and females with equal frequency; and it affects all races and ethnicities. Prader-Willi is recognized as a common genetic cause of childhood obesity.
Our California Delegation has a personal connection to PWS – Congressman Ed Royce’s Chief of Staff, Amy Porter has a niece with PWS and she and her family have been extremely active with the Foundation for Prader-Willi Research ever since her diagnosis in 2002.
PWS can be a devastating disease, but not one that garners extensive attention from a research standpoint. By supporting this event for several years, the CSS has helped the Foundation bring this disease into the forefront of peoples’ minds and allowed for important research to be conducted. Ultimately, we believe that our involvement in this event has improved the lives of children with PWS and helped secure their future through the advancement of research.

Feedback from CSS Members“Now in its sixth year, the California State Society’s golf tournament not only benefits a worthwhile charity, but it’s a great opportunity to enjoy the company of fellow Californians and to play at a wonderful golf venue.” ~ Scott Nishioki
